anxiety,  be more unicorn

Manifesto – Dumpy Little Unicorn: a way of life

I’m relaunching the blog with a fab new look from Ellie Illustrates and a new podcast listen to the trailer here.

So what is Dumpy Little Unicorn and what can you expect to find here?

I won’t lie 2019 has been tumultuous. Anxiety took over my life for a while -pretty much at the same time I turned 40.   I’ve since learnt a huge amount and I have been fortunate enough to get some therapy on the NHS which has literally saved my life.  If it was not for that I would be wallowing in self pity and having a very dark time, but I’m not accepting that narrative for myself. On the old blog I wrote about being more unicorn and I guess that idea has evolved like a Pokemon into this form.

It honestly feels like we are living in the end times. The orange one across the pond and the elected parasites in Westminster appear to be fiddling as they sell us down the river.  The Nazis are back. I mean what the effing Jeff?

What do we need in these dark times?

  • We need hope
  • We need solace
  • we need respite from the horrors.

And here is where I am creating this space. Things that give me hope, solace and respite. I’m still going to be writing about books, films, TV and Theatre, but I’m only going to be sharing positive experiences. This is going to be a corner of the world I want to be welcoming, safe and a joy to read.

The podcast is another avenue for me to share positive stuff talking to people about what brings them joy and in hopefully make the world a little less miserable.

Come and join me in this space for things to nerd about and unashamedly enjoy.
