Jane's Great Re-Read: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

final logo (1)
After a couple of new reads: Eleanor and Park and Transmuted I am starting Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
This is probably my least favourite of all the Harry Potter books, I think it’s down to the fact that JK Rowling tries so hard to persuade the reader that Hagrid might be responsible for Muggle Attacks and even from the first reading I was adamant that it could never be him.
I’m not a fan of Gilderoy Lockhart either. But then we aren’t supposed to be. I suppose I just think of this novel as being the weakest. That said I’m returning after a gap of five years and I think it is possible that I have been unkind to this book in my memory.
Things I’m looking forward to : Ginny Weasley appearing properly for the first time.  The Flying Ford Anglia and the Whomping Willow.
Will you join me?

I just re-read them all and now I find it difficult to differentiate between them all in my head. It’s all one mass of awesome Potterness. But yes, Lockhart is very annoying.

I’ve read the first five books a lot and I was at the time quite active in the fandom especially when it came to predicting would happen. It is nice going back and I am remembering some gems which have really made me giggle. Mandrakes growing secretive and Moody as they reach adolescence for instance.
